"Unto Us A Child Is Born"
Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
There are many Bible passages that detail the miraculous birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
"a child is born"
Throughout the Old Testament, people prophesied that a Saviour would one day come. The book of Matthew records what is known as the Christmas story, and in it, we learn that prophecy was fulfilled and that Jesus truly was born. This verse tells us that Jesus was born, He was given, unto us. The life of Jesus didn’t begin here on earth, but instead, He was given by God to us. He left His home in heaven to be born as a baby boy here on this earth, and He did that for us.
2. The Deity Of The Child
"The mighty God, The everlasting Father"
Jesus wasn’t just some ordinary baby; He was God incarnated into man. He was the God Man. While he may have been born in a lowly manger, He was and is the King of Kings. Even though He experienced the birth and death of humanity, He now sits in His original place in Heaven with God, His Father, for eternity.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1)
“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”
(John 1:14)
3. The Destiny Of The Child
He was born to die so that we might live!
The main reason Jesus came to this earth was to die for mankind. He chose to come and experience every trial and temptation you and I experience in this life, just like any other person. Still, He overcame them all and lived a perfect life in order to do His Father’s will and give Himself as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins, so that we could have fellowship with God in this life and spend eternity in heaven with Him. Today, you and I can not only have peace in this life but also peace after death, because one night in a lowly manger…“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:11)
From my family to yours, I hope you have a Merry Christmas!
