Life's journey is often marked by a divine call to go forward, much like the instruction given to the children of Israel in Exodus 14:15. This forward movement, however, is not without its obstacles. This biblical account reveals that there are problems anytime you move forward. Just as Pharaoh pursued the Israelites, we too can expect challenges as we strive to follow God's will. These difficulties can even be seen as "growing pains" in our spiritual development.
In such moments of adversity, our primary response should be to turn to God in prayer. When the Israelites faced the approaching Egyptian army, they "cried out unto the Lord." Problems should drive us to our knees, fostering a deeper reliance on God's leadership and guidance. Through consistent prayer, seeking His will and strength, we find the fortitude to continue our journey.
As we step out in faith and pursue God's path, we can trust in His unfailing provision. The parting of the Red Sea is a powerful testament to God's ability to make a way where there seems to be no way..."Where God guides, He always provides.”
Furthermore, our progression must be accompanied by praise. Following their miraculous deliverance, Moses and the Israelites sang a song of gratitude to the Lord. Going forward must include praise for God's triumphs and the blessings He bestows. Even in bitter experiences, like the waters of Mara, turning to the tree of Calvary can transform bitterness into sweetness. Ultimately, as we navigate life's challenges and embrace the call to go forward, we can be assured of God's presence, provision, and the ultimate promise of rest and abundance, like the encampment at Elim with its twelve wells of water.
